Black Clover Episode 1 Synopsis
In Hage, a priest finds two abandoned babies in front of a church. He takes them inside and discovers that their names are Yuno and Asta.
Fifteen years later, Asta proposes to Sister Lily, who repeats her refusal. Yuno and the other orphans criticize Asta for his lack of magic. Asta tries to show off his skills, but Yuno surpasses him in magic.
Later, at the grimoire initiation ceremony, two nobles criticize the local townspeople. While Yuno receives the four-leaf clover, Asta does not receive the spellbook, but Asta challenges Yuno for the title of Wizard King, but Yuno ignores him.
Later, the two nobles ambush Yuno outside the tower, but Yuno overwhelms them. All three are then ambushed by Levchi Surik, a former magic knight who plans to steal and sell Yuno's magic book. Asta comes to Yuno's aid but fails.
When Revchi breaks Asta's spirit, Yuno nominates Asta as a rival. Motivated by this affirmation, Asta decides to continue fighting and summons the Grimoire from the Tower. Revchi notices that it has a five-leaf clover. When a large sword appears from a grimoire, Asta grabs it and a shadow of a demon appears behind him.
